IP Trackers I've Actually Used

Honest review based on real testing, not sponsored BS

So I've tried a bunch of IP tracking tools over the past year. Some are great, some are garbage. Here's my honest take.

The Tools I Tested

1. IPLogger Best Overall

★★★★★ (4.8/5)

This is the one I use most often now. Here's why:

What's Good:
  • Actually free - no catch, no premium upsell
  • No sign up required (huge plus)
  • Has email tracking too
  • Works on mobile
  • Links work forever (some expire after a week)
What Could Be Better:
  • Interface could be prettier (but works fine)
  • No mobile app (just web-based)

Best for: Pretty much everyone. It's free, works well, no hassle.

2. Grabify

★★★★☆ (4.3/5)

Pretty popular, lots of people use it. It's decent but has some annoying parts.

What's Good:
  • Custom short domains (looks legit)
  • Been around forever (reliable)
  • Decent interface
What Sucks:
  • SO MANY ADS. Like, annoying amount
  • Some features need account
  • Free version is limited
  • Links expire after 30 days on free plan

Best for: If you need custom domains and don't mind ads.

3. WhatsTheirIP

★★★☆☆ (3.5/5)

Basic but works. Nothing fancy.

What's Good:
  • Super simple to use
  • Free
  • No account needed
What Sucks:
  • Very basic features
  • UI looks old
  • Not much info beyond IP

Best for: If you just need a quick IP and nothing else.

4. IP-Tracker.org

★★☆☆☆ (2.5/5)

Tried it once, wasn't impressed.

What's Good:
  • Free tier exists
What Sucks:
  • Requires sign up (annoying)
  • Free tier is super limited
  • Pushes you to upgrade constantly
  • Results weren't that accurate in my test

Best for: I don't recommend it honestly.

My Testing Method

I tested each tool by:

  1. Creating tracking links for the same destination URL
  2. Clicking from my phone, laptop, and asking friends to click
  3. Comparing accuracy of location data
  4. Seeing how easy it is to use
  5. Checking if there are annoying limitations

Bottom Line

Just starting out? Use IPLogger. It's free, works well, no account needed.

Need custom domains? Grabify is okay if you can tolerate the ads.

Want something super simple? WhatsTheirIP gets the job done but doesn't offer much else.

Quick Note

All these tools do basically the same thing - track IPs. The differences are in the details: ease of use, extra features, ads, etc. Pick what works for your situation. For most people, free and simple is good enough.
